The newest addition to the Old Mariner lineup, the Old Mariner 6 Inshore Fly Reel is designed for saltwater flats and inshore fishing on lighter 5–7 weight rods.

Machined in West Palm Beach, Florida from aircraft-certified materials, this lightweight reel features an engineered carbon fiber sealed drag, large arbor and removable spool. Silent retrieve and silent outgoing operation keep things simple and smooth on the water, while an easy retrieve-direction change makes setup straightforward.

Built for anglers chasing bonefish, redfish, snook and other inshore species, the Old Mariner 6 brings Old Mariner durability and drag performance to a lighter-weight reel.

The engineering behind the Old Mariner reel design began with an idea inspired by monster tarpon in Miami: create a reel strong enough to put serious pressure on big fish and get them to the boat safely and quickly.

Designed by Michael Kearny, these serialized reels take inspiration from traditional trolling reels, using a double-frame design that supports the spool and bearings for exceptional strength and stability under load.

Despite that added structural strength, the design remains lighter than many saltwater fly reels while being built to withstand the demanding realities of saltwater fishing.
